Hardly a week goes by in China without economic trouble rearing its head these days. Chinese manufacturing was the victim this week, with the country's purchasing managers' index falling into contraction territory, according to a study from HSBC and Markit. The reading hit the Hang Seng (HSIINDICES: ^HSI ) hard, but the index recovered well, to end the week up 1.5%. That's not been enough to counter the index's poor results in 2013, however: Year to date, the Hang Seng's fallen more than 12%, outpacing most other world indices in the race to the bottom.
Is China still a safe bet for investors looking for growth prospects?
Manufacturing slumps into contraction territory
Manufacturing is only part of China's greater slowdown. Exports have been hit hard by the cash outflow from the country in recent times, and the problem has only worsened lately. The Fung Group's Business Intelligence Center said this weekthat a measure of export orders from China's PMI fell to a reading of 47.7 -- more than two percentage points into contraction territory, and the lowest mark since February.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Roberto Pedone]
NetEase (NTES), through its subsidiaries, operates in online games, Internet portal and e-mail and wireless value-added services businesses in the People's Republic of China. This stock closed up 1.5% at $85 in Wednesday's trading session.
Wednesday's Volume: 806,000
Three-Month Average Volume: 356,752
Volume % Change: 122%From a technical perspective, NTES trended modestly higher here right above some near-term support at $81.42 with above-average volume. This stock has been downtrending over the last month and change, with shares moving lower from its high of $90.77 to its recent low of $81.42. During that downtrend, shares of NTES have making mostly lower highs and lower lows, which is bearish technical price action. That said, shares of NTES have now started to rebound off that $81.42 low and it's quickly moving within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if NTES manages to take out its 50-day moving average of $86.28 with high volume.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in NTES as long as it's trending above Wednesday's intraday low of $82.65 or above more near-term support at $81.42 and then once it sustains a move or close above its 50-day at $86.28 with volume that hits near or above 356,752 shares. If that breakout kicks off soon, then NTES will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $90.08 to $90.77, or even its 52-week high at $91.06. Any high-volume move above its 52-week high at $91.06 will then give NTES a chance to make a run at $95 to $100.

Profitability Analysis
Profitability is a class of financial metric used to analyse a businessability to generate earnings compared with expenses and other relevant costs incurred during a specific period of time. In this section I will study several profitability metrics, such as return on assets, quality of earnings, cash flows and revenues. By analyzing these four metrics, we will be able to elucidate if the company is really making money.
In addition, I always compare a company's revenue growth and operating cash flow growth. Over the past three years, the company's operating cash flow has increased by 4%. The company augmented its operating cash flow from $4.073 to $4.224. I advise looking for companies with strong cash generation profiles.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By John Udovich]
China is set to ease the one child policy, something that could benefit Chinese stocks in general but be especially beneficial to insurance stocks like China Life Insurance Company Ltd (NYSE: LFC) and CNinsure Inc (NASDAQ: CISG) plus health care stocks like Mindray Medical International Ltd(NYSE: MR) and Concord Medical Services Hldg Ltd (NYSE: CCM). First, let be clear that China is NOT abolishing the one child policy as the changes will merelyallow married couples to have two children if one spouse is an only child plus it will be up to China 34 province-level administrations to revisetheir laws and put the new policy into effect. Moreover, China family-planning bureaucracy employs more than 500,000 full-time workers and six million part-time workers all the way down to the village level tocollect billions of dollars in fines and these bureaucrats have fought for years against policy changesmeaning they could throw up roadblocks if not placated. With that said, the insurance and health care sectors are two sectors with publicly Chinese stocks that look set totake advantage of the coming changes.

The main on-line competitors are:
Qunar.com, a travel website owned by Baidu (BIDU) and a few venture fundseLong (LONG), backed by Tencent (TCEHY.PK) and Expedia (EXPE). Analyst expect it to generate $163M in revenue next yearThat is pretty serious competition, needless to say. Having the backing of Baidu or Expedia offers several advantages, but Ctrip is the biggest and most established company. It's quite difficult to compare Qunar.com to Ctrip, for the simple sake that Qunar is a private company. However, there can be little doubt that it constitutes serious competition:

More than half of PGJ is dedicated to tech stocks, with another 20% allocated in consumer discretionary. According to Li, Baidu's planned payouts to union members would equal to 13.7% of Citi's revenue target for Baidu this year, up sharply from last year's 8.7% cut. Is Baidu being more generous to keep webmasters close? This doesn't seem necessary. Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU ) is just starting to monetize its search engine, so it will be a long time before advertisers are willing to pay up for leads through Qihoo 360's network. Qihoo 360's move for an in-house solution means less action for its ad-serving partner Google, and that weakens another potential Baidu rival.
